If you thrive in a dynamic work environment where every day is different, an internship with CPD is for you. As part of our inaugural intern class, your work will be imperative in helping build North Carolina’s first holistic defense office dedicated to parent representation, and the first office in the Triangle area dedicated to early defense advocacy. You’ll join a dedicated team of professionals committed to transformative justice and holistic defense. Legal interns will have the experience of working on litigation on pending cases and working closely with our director of collaborative defense in investigation and out-of-court advocacy. Our interdisciplinary approach ensures engagement in meaningful work that supports vulnerable families and addresses both legal and systemic challenges affecting our clients.
Position Overview: The Summer 2025 Legal Internship Program spans approximately 8-10 weeks. We are flexible with a start and end date between the end of May to mid-August. This is an unpaid internship designed for law students who are passionate about parent defense and holistic defense. We understand the financial considerations of unpaid opportunities and are committed to collaborating with your law school or other sources to explore stipends or externship credit options if you are eligible.
